Announcing Dog Lane Café @ Storrs Center
Opening in Late Summer 2012
Dog Lane Café is a new venue being opened by brothers Barry and Brian Jessurun, owners of the The Vanilla Bean Café located in Pomfret and 85 Main Street in Putnam (where they are partners with James Martin). Plans for The Dog Lane Café call for it to be a Fast-Casual concept with a menu similar to that of The Vanilla Bean Café, an American Café menu with grilled items, salads, sandwiches, soups, chili, and daily specials, with an emphasis on seasonal, freshly-prepared food all made to order. The design will accommodate year-round business with combined indoor and outdoor patio seating for over 160 patrons.
Dog Lane Café will be located at One Dog Lane, on the corner of Route 195 and Dog Lane in Storrs CT (adjacent to UCONN). We are part of The Storrs Center project, a collaboration among the town, the university, and state and private developers, that will produce a pedestrian-friendly mix of shops, restaurants, housing and entertainment in a village setting. With access to public transportation, Storrs Center represents the essence of smart growth. The long-range plan for Storrs Center is based on developing a destination area where it is busier in summer than it is in the wintertime.
Barry Jessurun states, "Storrs Center should be an excellent home to The Dog Lane Café, and we are hopeful for a warm welcome from old and new friends. We look forward to greeting residents, students, faculty, and visitors when our new café opens next summer."
